*SUSAN*HAT* was born when I accidentally shrunk a wool sweater and decided to make a few hats for my kids. I quickly realized how malleable felted wool is, allowing me to make one-of-a-kind sculptural hats that are functional as well as fashionable.
Knowing that not everyone can wear wool, I began to use other unwanted clothing and fabric to make all season hats.
I also refashion vintage and other existing hats, at times totally de- and reconstructing them.
I am inspired by the hat wearing era of the early to mid 1900s, when it was fun and acceptable to make a statement using your head!
