I enjoy creating unique jewelry artworks that offer people a chance to recognize themselves in them. To feel that desire to open themselves to the world. Some of my best conversations have begun through my interest in something a person has been wearing.
I love to make pieces that focus on unusual materials or settings that leave the artworks open to interpretation. Even if I have an idea what the piece is about, I find joy in learning what others see in the pieces, because that’s how they will take it out into the world.
Metal is a strong material that can accept change but is strong enough not to break. Combining metal with gems, fossils, stones, and found objects presents a never-ending set of challenges and joy. I take up this work in my small studio in a former school building in rural Viroqua, WI. I live nearby with my husband and cat.
