I believe that art is any thoughtful arrangement of things in a space and I practice in two specific media: letterpress printing/book arts and collage. There are times when these two disciplines emerge. The focus of this application is my work as a printer and book maker under The Heavy Duty Press imprint, where my intentions are to create works that fall under the subheads of Fine Press and/or Artists' Books, with themes related, but not limited, to sustainable living within the driftless region and beyond.
I believe that a creative practice is a healthy component of personal well being and a contented and fulfilled life. My pursuit is simply to make and sell artwork which satisfies any void I see, as in, I make the things I imagine cannot see or hold until I make them myself. In other words, I create for personal pleasure, because for me, it is the greatest joy in living.
