In the early stages of my pottery practice, I find myself drawn to bringing the outside world into the home. This consists of meditating on the short-lived beauty of flowers and plants and considering ways to represent natural materials and textures in handmade ceramics. By exploring connections between nature and everyday objects – decorating my surfaces with the flowers that greet me on walks or building vases to hold the flowers I grow – I hope to create a more nurturing home space.
