I am fortunate in my life to have tried many art mediums, from 30 + year of creating and teaching stained glass to following my fiber dreams of owning a yarn shop. That has led to creating fine handwovens, handspun and hand dyed yarns, in my log/ home studio in the beautiful hills of southwestern Wisconsin.
Weaving brings an aspect of functionality to art that I continue to enjoy. It is hard to describe the wonder of being at the loom and watching your fabric grow with each throw of the shuttle. Fiber is a wonderfully tactile medium and the rhythm of weaving is very meditative. I am very drawn to the interplay of pattern and texture in weaving. And then throw in color and how they are affected by each other in the weave; It will take me a lifetime to learn all there is to learn about weaving.
My interest in jewelry making has continued from my stained glass days , to learning torch work in the making of glass beads and now I am learning the skills of silversmithing.
These two such different mediums continue to delight and inspire my creativity. With both mediums I am challenged by always having new things to learn, new rabbit holes to explore and of course new tools to support my enthusiasm for always trying something new.
